Given the current situation in forensic science today, there is a dire need for additional resources to process cases and offer services that many labs across the country may not be able to provide given their budget constraints.
Increased federal funding and small-scale labs are not alleviating the major backlogs that are currently faced by crime labs and law enforcement agencies. The answer to finally fixing the forensic backlog problem once and for all is a larger, more comprehensive laboratory that provides a full range of forensic services and is privately managed and accredited.
The National Forensic Support Laboratory (NFSL) is designed as a cost-effective, convenient and efficient way for law enforcement agencies, laboratories and other entities to access state-of-the-art forensic services.
